At the beginning of the year, it was reported that Sony Pictures would be moving forward with the Sci Fi/Romance Passengers after being in development hell for quite a while. The project picked up Oscar-nominated director Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) to helm the film and soon after this news hit, rumors began circulating that Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt would star.

After some behind the scenes drama, Sony has officially given the greenlight to the project and according to THR, Jennifer Lawrence will allegedly make 30 percent of the film’s profit at $20-million. Sony’s decision came after Jurassic World demolished the box office this past weekend, resulting as well in an upgrade to Pratt’s fee from $10-million to $12-million for the picture.

Passengers has been in development limbo for a while now. At one point, the movie was under the Weinsteins’ supervision with Keanu Reeves and Reese Witherspoon set to star. At that time, the movie was budgeted at $35-million. With the all-around upgrade in talent, the movie now sits at $150-million.  Production on Passengers is set to finally begin in the fall.
