Narcos. Everything is Narcos. If you haven’t gleaned it already, drug trafficking is popular in pop-culture right now, with the wild tales of El Chapo running rampant, to this August’s newest Netflix original, Narcos, getting its release. Demetri Martin’s new Netflix stand-up special is also premiering, which might serve as a nice palette cleanser after watching Pablo Escobar kill a bunch of people. Here’s what you can expect from Netflix in August…

Narcos will follow the exploits of one of the biggest drug traffickers of all time, Pablo Escobar. Before his death in 1993 (sorry for the spoiler) Escobar was the most wanted drug dealer on the planet. Let’s binge-watch his rise to the top of the cocaine heap.
The Hurt Locker (Aug. 1)

Before Kathryn Bigelow tackled the wide-ranging search for bin Laden in Zero Dark Thirty, she brought us this smaller scale war drama about a loose cannon of a military bomb expert who plays by his own rules.
Lord of War (Aug. 17)
Nicolas Cage’s resume is so vast, and he has so many forgettable films, that sometimes one of his really good flicks slips through the cracks and falls into the bin of the vagrants. Lord of War may be one of those films that doesn’t get enough credit. Cage is excellent as an international gunrunner, but it’s really Lord of War‘s ability to maintain a strong sociopolitical message through the drama that makes it a standout.
