Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may be a fixture of celebrity gossip off-screen, but they haven’t shared the silver screen since 2005’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith. After all the infamous shenanigans surrounding their last film together, expectations are high for By the Sea, which Jolie also wrote and directed.
The film is set in France in the 1970s, and follows a married couple — a former dancer and a writer — as their marriage disintegrates. From the looks of this trailer, it will be masterfully acted and sumptuously designed, but will probably not be a sexy, fun romp like their last outing together. With a November 15 release date, it will no doubt be mixed up in Oscar talk for next year. (Ugh, I know, it’s only August.)
