CHVRCHES are doing their fans a solid by beginning the process of dropping songs from their highly anticipated album Every Open Eye. They released their first song from the album, “Leave a Trace,” previously, and now they have debuted another song, “Never Ending Circles,” through Zane Lowe’s radio show on Beats 1.
Fortunately, if you didn’t catch the song on Beats 1, it’s now available on the internet for your listening pleasure, and it is indeed a pleasure. It was a smart choice for a lead-in single for the album, because “Never Ending Circles” is a real banger. If those opening beats and synths don’t grab you, then arguably nothing will, and Lauren Mayberry’s vocals are as strong as ever. There is nothing in this song that should lower anticipation for Every Open Eye.
The album will be released Sept. 25, and, based on the critical acclaim their debut album The Bones of What You Believe, expect to see it on some album of the year lists when the time comes. For now though, “Leave a Trace” and “Never Ending Circles” will have to tide you over. Which is fine, because you could put on “Never Ending Circles” on repeat and nobody would blame you.
