During Disney’s D23 Fan Expo on Friday, The Rock wasn’t the only celebrity to stir the crowd of fans into a frenzy with a surprise appearance. Johnny Depp was also in attendance and showed up unannounced to be honored as a “Disney Legend,” which is the highest award given out by the studio:
Disney shared the news on their Official D23 Twitter page on Friday afternoon:

Not only expected to appear once more as the Mad Hatter in Alice Through the Looking Glass, Depp just completed shooting the fifth installment to the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise.
When a fan screamed out the word “parlay,” the actor replied as Captain Jack Sparrow and talked about his fans by saying, “I never really liked that word [fan], because it sort of implies that someone is above and someone is beneath in a weird way. So I would say that you are in fact my ‘employer.’ Thank you for giving me this great opportunity to basically do stupid stuff for a living. For watching me.”
Depp joined other 2015 Disney Legend inductees which included George Lucas, Susan Lucci, and Oscar-winning composer — and retired Oingo Boingo frontman — Danny Elfman.
