If you were in the market for a creepy yet homey type of living arrangement, a famous house has just hit the market and it could be up your alley. The home of the sadistic Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs is for sale in Perry Township Fay, Pennsylvania, finally allowing you to put a bid on your lifestyle of sucking on your food like Hannibal Lecter, raising moths, and dancing around with your genitals stuffed between your legs (if you’re a man, of course).
The actual house is not as creepy and it (sadly) does not include the Nazi-loving basement/dungeon. That was created on a soundstage, I assume so the neighbors wouldn’t ask why there was a woman screaming in the basement. It currently belongs to Scott and Barbara Lloyd, both 69, who put the house for sale on Sunday and are hoping that the connection to the film will garner some additional interest, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review:
The scenes in which the Lloyds’ home appears were shot during three days in 1990. It took a production crew about six weeks to prep the house for filming.
“They were looking for a home in which you entered the front door and had a straight line through,” Barbara Lloyd said. “They wanted it to look like a spider web, with Buffalo Bill drawing Jodie Foster into the foyer, into the kitchen, then into the basement.”
Honestly, $300 grand for this part of the world isn’t too steep, but they’re likely churching it up a bit due to the movie. It just really needs that dungeon, though. Without it, the place is just a house that possibly had some weird moths flying around inside. Where’s the lady skin suit? Where’s the fancy dog? Where’s the love?
Now all we need is for the house from Hannibal to go on sale and you can have the calm nights at Buffalo Bill’s and the weekend dinner parties at Hannibal’s. And once a month, the pig feedings at wherever that awesome mansion Mason Verger lived in is located.
