When you click this video of Jeff Goldblum’s interview from Monday’s Conan, you feel like it’s going to be some typical loving father sharefest with videos of babies and parenting talk. That’s at least what I thought when I saw the preview image and all. But then I remembered it was Jeff Goldblum and there’s nothing typical about him at all. You sometimes have to wonder if he really did get zapped together with a fly inside that pod by David Cronenberg, turning him into a jittery ball of man weirdness that delights audiences on stage and screen today.
He just sorta buzzes around from topic to topic, being funnier than most comedians that appear on the show, and forcing the audience to showcase some of that awkward laughter. Not only that, but once we finally get to the baby video and he plays around with it in a “Jeff Goldblum style,” we’re treated to the icing on the cake. It’s delightful and I feel like he should do more, maybe once a week.
And wouldn’t Jurassic World be just a little better if it featured a sliver of Jeff Goldblum? Just saying, they could’ve found a way to get him back to that island. Just like they got Mr. T to get on a plane in The A-Team.
