Russell Brand’s new documentary, BRAND:The Second Coming, has been receiving positive reviews from those who have seen it. One person who won’t be giving it a rave, however, is Katy Perry, the comedian’s ex-wife. Why? Well, if the ad for this new movie is to be believed, Brand might have just called Perry out on the way that she lives her life, which, apparently, isn’t from him.
Us Weekly reports that while this is only speculation right now, there’s some reason to believe that a comment Brand makes about vapid and vacuous lifestyle may be about the woman he was married to for 14 months:
“Oh my f—king god. I’m living this life of the very thing I detest,” Brand is seen exclaiming before a video of Perry is shown. “Vapid, vacuous celebrity. Fame and power is bulls—t.”
But that’s not the only evidence that Perry might be getting a tongue-lashing in the film. The Daily Mail reports that there are several more digs at the singer:
Elsewhere in the film, Russell is seen mocking his wife in a stand-up routine and admitting to friend Stephen Merchant that he didn’t think their marriage would last. He told his pal: ‘It’s definitely good I’m with someone I love. But it’s not a resolution to anything spiritual…
‘This is my suspicion, that at some point, to be happy, I’m going to have to walk away.’ Yet another scene shows the British funnyman’s friend Noel Gallagher admitting he knew their union wouldn’t last.
Perry, who knows she’ll be discussed in the film is allegedly feeling “embarrassed” and “vulnerable,” according to a source. And while the documentary will be shown, the film’s director says that Brand doesn’t approve of it. Which means we’ll all probably go to see it when it comes out.
