Listen To Coldplay Start A Dance Party With New Single ‘Adventure Of A Lifetime’

Well the signs were all there; all the clues and hints, snippets and bits. Coldplay is in fact releasing a new album next month, and has dropped “Adventure of a Lifetime,” the lead single off A Head Full of Dreams.

And we’ll start here, it’s definitely… interesting; certainly a step in a glossier, snazzier direction for the band, once known as the purveyors of “sad, bastard music.” “Adventure of a Lifetime” is anything but sad. It’s an all-out, glow-stick waving Euro dance party. There’s the island that “Yellow” lives on, and then miles and miles away from that, at least four time zones away, is “Adventure of a Lifetime.” They might be related, but you certainly wouldn’t know it by looking at them.

This time around Coldplay decided not to work with Brian Eno, (who has behind the boards of their past few albums) instead opting to work with the Norwegian pop-production team Stargate. Because I don’t know about you, but when I think of Coldplay, I think of dance pop from Norway. A Head Full of Dreams is going to be a star-studded affair. The album will feature guest spots from our favorite quote machine Noel Gallagher, Beyonce, and Tove Lo, among others.

But hold on, will this be the last Coldplay album? Chris Martin has definitely been talking about it like that’s a very real possibility. He told Zane Lowe that the album was “the completion of something” and that when approaching the project, Martin had “to think of it as a final thing we’re doing” or else the band wouldn’t give it their all.

I guess we’ll see. In the meantime, the band once known for getting you through a messy breakup or providing the soundtrack to your rainy Saturday is here to open up the dance floor and get the party cranking.

Because they’re Coldplay.

Obviously.
