There’s so much to like about Dirk Nowitzki’s twilight, most of which is the future Hall of Famer’s continued excellence in the final years of his career. But his affable attitude certainly makes us smile, too.

As the first quarter of tonight’s game between the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics wound down, Brad Stevens isolated Kelly Olynyk against Nowitzki – the player to whom Boston’s skilled big man has been often compared. So what move did Olynyk bust out, of course?

As you can tell by his reaction, Nowitzki clearly appreciated that his young counterpart tried his signature one-legged fadeaway. If Olynyk had made the shot, though, let’s just say we doubt Dirk would have been so gracious.

The Mavericks, by the way, withstood a couple crucial late-game gaffes to hold on for a 106-102 win over the Celtics. Nowitzki continued his stellar early season play, scoring a game-high 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting to go along with seven rebounds. He’s now averaging 18.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in just 28.6 minutes per game. Oh, and his true shooting percentage is a career-high 63.4.

Yeah. It’s safe to say Nowitzki can definitely still teach players like Olynyk a thing or two.
