At this point, it’s impossible to deny that “Hotline Bling” is undoubtedly one of the most popular songs of 2015. The video was equally beloved and ridiculed as Drake danced and sang unlike any other rapper would in public, leading to many parodies and covers. The Toronto Raptors had a Drake night, including a room that looked like the video so fans could do their own version of the dance. Even Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders, with the help of Ellen DeGeneres, took their turns making parodies of the video. The next in line to re-imagine Hotline Bling? Some of Hollywood’s top actors.
In this video from W Magazine, some of our finest thespians such as Bryan Cranston, Kristen Wiig, Seth Rogen, and Amy Schumer take the hit song and turn in a dramatic portrayal of the lyrics. Some attempt to sing the song in its original form, while others take the lyrics and try to give emphasis to the important parts. The star of the clip, however, is clearly Cranston, who’s dramatic portrayal of the lines “started wearing less and going out more” and “that can only mean one thing” should win him any awards that his acting in Breaking Bad didn’t.
Overall, it appears each of the actors have been caught up in the popularity of the song and want to give it their best portrayal. That can mean only one thing, Drake’s “Hotline Bling” is further solidified as a classic.
