Watch John Boyega Surprise Delighted Fans At Screenings For ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

John Boyega is making plenty of new fans with his performance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but he’s attempting to keep it grounded as much as possible during the promotional tour. He talked about spilling the beans about his role to a cabbie while on Graham Norton and on The Tonight Show on Friday, he talked a bit about how his friends thought he was just an extra in the film. It doesn’t seem to be making his ego grow too much and he followed up his Tonight Show appearance by showing his appreciation to those new fans in several theaters across New York:

“Today I did surprise pop ups for opening night audiences in NYC! Had an amazing time meeting you all and again thank you for all the support. Thank you REGAL UNION SQUARE STADIUM, AMC LOEWS WEST 34TH STREET 14, AMC LOEWS LINCOLN SQUARE, UNITED ARTISTS COURT STREET AND WILLIAMSBURG CINEMAS.”

Boyega posted videos on his Instagram account that capture the excitement of the crowd and his little pep talk ahead of the showing. Sure it’s all part of the marketing campaign, but it’s also a damn nice moment from a guy who really seems to be enjoying himself.

And if you missed it, here’s Boyega talking about his friends on Fallon.
