Listen To Iman Shumpert Deliver His Daughter From Home In This Incredible 911 Call

“Oh, she’s having the baby!”

That’s the first thing Iman Shumpert told a 911 operator on the day his wife, Teyana Taylor, gave birth to their daughter. But that exclamation wasn’t the excitement of a gleeful new father. Instead, the Cleveland Cavaliers guard was expressing concerned shock at a delivery that was suddenly taking place in the bathroom of his Cleveland-area home.

Five days later, both mother and baby girl are happy and healthy. But save for the incredible poise of Shumpert and the emergency operator who guided him through the impromptu birth, there’s a chance this unbelievable story could have had a far different ending.

We highly recommend listening to the video above in full, by the way. Hearing Shumpert go from frightened tears to happy ones as he’s helped to ensure the safety of his newborn is absolutely heartwarming. The grace of the 911 operator who took his call is equally moving, too.

“Is it a boy or a girl?”

“It’s a little girl, sir.”

“A little girl? Congratulations.”

“Thank you, sir.”

Shumpert, by the way, missed Cleveland’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder the next day with a groin injury. Thankfully, he was right where he should have been as LeBron James and company defeated their Western Conference foes – at home with his fiancée and baby girl.
