Growing up in the 90s, there were many family-driven sitcoms that nostalgia has popularly kept alive in syndication. My favorite shows that didn’t run on Nickelodeon included Boy Meets World, Home Improvement, and, of course, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. All three of those have continued on and padded the pockets of their star actors – some of whom have long since escaped the limelight (oh, JTT, we hardly knew ye).
With the success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens still going strong, one internet user had the genius idea to replace our favorite and beloved Wookiee’s familiar growls and groans with another man’s similar vocal talents. In the above video, you can’t help but wonder if George Lucas always meant for Chewie to be more of a comedic relief type role than he ultimately ended up being. Sure, Chewie gave us a few funny moments – but what if our favorite Wookiee’s vocal inflections had just as much to offer as Tim Allen’s familiar grunts? It’s fun to wonder, but I can’t help but think they already got it right with Chewbacca.
