The Seattle Seahawks’ first drive Sunday did not go as planned. After a 3-yard run by Christine Michael, Russell Wilson threw two incomplete passes to set up a fourth-down punt.
That’s when things went horribly wrong.
Seahawks punter Jon Ryan could not handle a low snap and decided the best thing to do was try to run for a first down. He was tackled about two yards shy of a first down and, after trying to leap two defenders, landed on his face. Whether it was the freezing turf or his helmet, Ryan walked off the field with a bloody face for his effort.
The Vikings took over with great field position and settled for a short field goal to take a 3-0 lead. As long as Ryan doesn’t have a concussion, he should be back in there punting, because chances are he can’t feel his face anyway. The Vikings listed him as questionable to return with a nose injury.
