With the Warriors trailing the Nuggets 109-104 with under 40 seconds remaining Wednesday night at the Pepsi Center, Steph Curry came across half-court and buried a deep three-pointer to make it a two-point game. Golden State would then get a stop on the other end, but on the ensuing possession, Curry turned the ball over at the top of key without about seven seconds left on the game clock before he could get off a potentially game-winning three-pointer. It was one of eight turnovers for Curry on the night. Denver would go on to win 112-110 and hand the Dubs just their third loss of the season.
Despite his late-game flub, it was Curry’s heroics that kept the Warriors alive as they played without Draymond Green, who earlier in the week was ruled out of the Golden State’s back-to-back games against the Nuggets and Lakers this week so he could rest. Curry poured in 20 points in the final period and finished with 38 points, nine assists and five rebounds. But it ultimately wasn’t enough to overcome a balanced attack from Denver, led by Danilo Gallinari, who had a team-high 28 points, and Will Barton, who added 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Gary Harris added 19 points for the Nuggets, while Darrell Arthur chipped in 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
