“How do you feel about Brooklyn?” “I hope they find a cure.”
And just like that, Derek Zoolander is officially back in our lives. After months of teasers and surprise public appearances, the final promotional push for Zoolander 2 is here and with it comes a stylish Vogue cover for Derek and Penelope Cruz. As part of that honor, Derek also had to answer a gamut of inquiries from a Vogue reporter for their “73 Questions” feature. As might be expected, he only has 9 answers prepared. The interview has all of the idiocy, sarcasm, and unintentional comedy that fans have come to love from one of the world’s most famous male models.
You might be saying to yourself “But wait, that’s just Ben Stiller in character as Derek Zoolander, not an actual male model.” You would technically be right, but at this point Zoolander is such a well known pop culture presence that he is an entity all to himself. Stiller is only the conduit for the genius to shine through, and he’s going a great job even after 15 years away from the character. There’s still a chance that Zoolander 2 is completely awful and can’t recreate the humor of the first installment. At least this video proves that Stiller still has full control over what makes Zoolander so ridiculous and absurd, even if the jokes in the upcoming film aren’t quite up to snuff.
