Before Super Bowl 50 kicked off in Santa Clara on Sunday night, Grammy award-winning singer Lady Gaga had the honors of singing the National Anthem. In front of a packed Levi’s Stadium and millions watching in front of a TV, Gaga delivered a great rendition of the Star Spangled Banner that was accompanied by a flyover from.
It was a big moment for Gaga, who called the opportunity “a dream come true” prior to Sunday.
“I’ve always wanted to sing the National Anthem at a major sporting event since I was a little girl, and for it to be the Super Bowl, it is the ultimate…
…
“For me, it was Whitney Houston,” she said when asked if she particularly admired any particularly iconic performance. “When I was little, I used to stand at the top of my staircase and sing along with her version. At home, the more I would sing it, the more my dad would say, ‘You’re getting pretty good, kid.’ So to be here now and to sing it to America, it’s just wonderful.”
By the way, for those of you who like to dabble in the art of sports gambling, it’s worth noting the over/under on Gaga’s performance was set at 2:20. That means that those of you who bet were likely very stressed out degenerates before the game even started.
Unofficial time on Lady Gaga's National Anthem is 2:19:76. Those who bet the under won (@BovadaLV O/U was 2:20!!!)
