The Oscars are just around the corner, two weeks from Sunday to be exact. This means we’re that much closer to seeing what host Chris Rock will bring to the telecast after the controversy that’s swirled since the nominees were announced last month, summed up with hashtag #OscarsSoWhite.
ABC, which will broadcast the ceremony, and Rock have unveiled another round of promos for the upcoming event and they focus on Rock making fun of Shonda Rhimes, who runs three shows on the network with a fourth soon to come. “Watch The Oscars,” Rock implores the viewing audience in the spot. “The only show on ABC Shonda Rhimes doesn’t own… yet.”
With How to Get Away With Murder and Scandal still thriving and Grey’s Anatomy still chugging along, Rock isn’t totally messing around. And come March, another Rhimes series will hit the air in the form of The Catch, starring Mirielle Enos of The Killing and Peter Krause, also known as Adam from Parenthood and Nate from Six Feet Under.
Rock tried to enhance the point a little bit with another ad making fun of the network’s TGIT promos used to plug all of Rhimes’s shows that air back-to-back-to-back on Thursday nights. Check it out.
