Who would have guessed that a customer grabbing a meal at a place called Zombie Burger could be such a puritan about the wait staff?
Pink-haired Des Moines waitress Taelor Beeck found herself in a baffling situation on Tuesday when a customer stiffed her on the gratuity because the patron claimed “tips are only for normal looking people.” Somehow the customer found Beeck’s appearance to be a big enough of an issue to give a 0 percent tip and a judgmental critique at a place called F*CKING ZOMBIE BURGER.
Beeck talked about how she was hurt by the customer’s comment in a story aired by the local NBC affiliate.
“At first, I felt really upset, I felt attacked, I almost felt like I was back in middle school all over again, like being bullied,” Taelor Beeck said. “I felt like a burning anger inside of me.”
Noted as a popular waitress at the establishment, Beeck says she’s okay if people don’t understand her aesthetic, but it’s simply the way she likes to express herself. As you can see in the clip at the top of the post, it’s hard to imagine what someone would find so outlandish about her style. Zombie Burger’s parent company Orchestrate Hospitality responded to the customer’s receipt rundown and issued a statement saying they’ve got Beeck’s back.

She is an example of a great team member and we are standing by her.
We have to admit, we’re sort of curious what qualifies someone to be a “normal looking” person in this particular customer’s eyes. Maybe there’s a pamphlet they can leave behind when they give a goose egg tip so we can have a clue for next time.
