UPROXX VIDEO: Everything You Might Not Know About Black Panther From ‘Captain America: Civil War’

It’s only been out for a day or so, but if you’ve not yet seen Captain America: Civil War, you may be living under a rock. But even if you haven’t yet gotten to your local cineplex, you must know by now that there are some new and exciting faces in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and one of them is Black Panther.

Black Panther, introduced to comic book audiences in 1966 as the first black superhero to appear in a comic, and who got his own title six years later, is played in Civil War by Chadwick Boseman, who burst onto the scene first as Jackie Robinson in 42 and then as James Brown in Get On Up. We’re introduced to the King of Wakanda, the most technologically advanced country in the world, as a hunter of the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) who joins up with Iron-Man and his team in the eventual showdown between the splintered factions of the Avengers.

Black Panther’s suit is made of Vibranium, the same powerful, almost indestructible material that makes up Captain America’s shield. He features heightened senses and reflexes, and also enhanced speed, strength, and agility. Black Panther’s role in the Avengers’ universe will only grow and be further fleshed out when he gets his own Marvel movie, directed by Creed’s Ryan Coogler, in 2018.
