Today’s a big day for Transformers casting news, apparently. First, we got word that Freya, “Britain’s Loneliest Dog,” would be joining the cast, and now we learn that Michael Bay and company are adding a legit knight to Transformers: The Last Knight. Wait, where are you going? It’ll take two minutes to read this, then you’re free to go back to the doggy stuff. Yeesh.

Anyways, yes, Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins is joining Transformers: The Last Knight. The movie’s Twitter account confirmed the news…

No word yet on who Hopkins might be playing, but I have a feeling he’ll be voicing a robot rather than running around in person (78 is a little old to be dodging Michael Bay explosions). Of course, the Transformers franchise does have a history of getting respected thespians to do random voice work – let’s not forget the time Orson Welles ended his storied career voicing Unicron in the original Transformers movie. Personally I’m hoping Hopkins plays Perceptor, the Transformer who turns into a microscope. Hey, there aren’t many Transformers left who haven’t appeared in the movies at this point.

Transformers: The Last Knight also features Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Jerrod Carmichael, and Isabela Moner and hits theaters…you’re already back reading the dog story, aren’t you? Well, if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. *Click.*
