The NHL season came to an end on Sunday night as the Pittsburgh Penguins clinched the Stanley Cup Final in San Jose, using six games to beat the Sharks in a best-of-seven for the Cup. It’s the franchise’s fourth championship, and their second since 2009.
Many argue that the Stanley Cup is the most difficult trophy to win in all of sports, and there’s no debating that the road to lifting and kissing it can be extremely intense. Not only do guys have to battle through the regular season grind, but the playoffs can feel like another entire season in itself. That’s why every year the journey culminates in a bunch of grown, bearded men celebrating like animals as they realize they’ve accomplished a lifelong dream.
This year was no different. Immediately following the final horn, the Penguins went nuts on the SAP Center ice and, later, in the visiting team’s locker room. As you’d expect, the celebrations included lots of friends, family, hugs, kisses, photo ops, and booze. Tons of booze.
