Multiple sclerosis is a terrible disease that attacks the central nervous system and causes a host of symptoms that range from blurred vision and slurred speech to paralysis and blindness. For those afflicted, the disease can be extremely difficult to live with. So the man in this video, Carl Gilbertson, wanted to give his wife Laura, who suffers from MS, an extra meaningful surprise to celebrate the couple’s 10th wedding anniversary.
With some help from the Liverpool Media Academy, who performed a choral rendition of Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are,” Gilbertson organized a flash mob as a declaration of love to his wife. He starts off by giving Laura a rose with some help from the leader of the chorus, who then walks over to his couple of dozen friends to begin the performance. At the end, two students unveil a banner Gilbertson made that reads “Happy Anniversary, Laura” with a smiling photo of his wife on their wedding day.
If you can make it until the end of the video without heaving sobs, you are a better person than I am. I’d be surprised if there was a dry eye in the crowd that formed behind the couple.
