Accio Dinero! One Harry Potter book could have you racing to Gringotts Wizarding Bank to make a $33,000 deposit.
According to The Independent, 500 hardback copies of the first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Sorcerer’s Stone in the U.S.), could be worth thousands of dollars. Not because their covers are special invisibility cloaks hiding a secret message from author J.K. Rowling, but because they’ve got a big fat error in them.

These books accidentally have a typo on page 53, in which “1 wand” is repeated twice on the list of supplies first-year wizards, like young Harry Potter, are supposed to bring with them to Hogwarts. One of these books is expected to bring in more than $33,000 at London’s Bonhams Fine Books and Manuscripts when it’s sold in November.
“Like most enduring books aimed at younger readers, the Harry Potter books also have wide appeal to adults and there is a strong market among collectors for first editions,” Matthew Haley, Bonham’s Head of Books and Manuscripts, told The Independent.
Haley added that the book is in especially good condition, which definitely has affected the price. However, if anyone out there’s got a first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, it might be worth it to crack that baby open. The chamber’s not the only thing that could be holding a powerful secret.
