‘Supergirl’ Herself Offers Fans A First Look At President Lynda Carter

The long-promised arrival of Superman, a musical crossover with Grant Gustin’s The Flash (that Joss Whedon may or may not direct), and many other treats await Supergirl fans in season two. Perhaps one of the most exciting for hardcore DC television nerds, however, is former Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter’s hiring as a new recurring character, the President of the United States. But aside from the initial announcement in June, very little is known about Carter’s involvement in the show. Nor has anyone seen what her president will look like… until now.

Thanks to Kara Danvers herself, Melissa Benoist, Supergirl and Wonder Woman aficionados can finally see Carter’s character on the recently-moved-to-The-CW show. In an Instagram post published late Thursday, Benoist joked she’d “met a wonderful woman today” while posing with Carter on the set. It’s nothing more than a simple daytime photo, really, and judging by the latter’s Hillary Clinton-esque pants suit attire, she probably isn’t packing anything deadlier than a fountain pen. Still, it’s pretty cool to see the many worlds of Warner Bros. and DC television colliding in a single picture.

It’s also a nice treat for any sober Super Troopers fans out there, as one could argue Carter’s president is her Vermont governor character from the 2001 comedy. Who knows? Maybe she endured enough police fundraisers to move on to a higher office.
