The Raiders Applied For A ‘Las Vegas Raiders’ Trademark And Released Renderings Of A New Stadium

The Oakland Raiders were the odd team out in the sweepstakes of fanchises moving to L.A. (the Chargers have the option to move in a year or two, and the Rams are already there), but owner Mark Davis (above, with his always-upsetting haircut) is still dead set on leaving his digs in Oakland, despite the rabid fanbase. With Los Angeles off the table, Davis has set his sights firmly on Las Vegas, and it sure doesn’t seem like a ploy to get the city of Oakland to pony up for a new stadium.

The Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee had a meeting on Thursday discussing the possibility of a new stadium for the Raiders, at which the team presented a series of renderings depicting the theoretical new arena. We have to say, it looks pretty cool:

Davis has also filed for a series of trademarks for the team name Las Vegas Raiders, a standard preliminary move to keep rights on merchandise and entertainment properties. None of this means a thing until the city and state approve a stadium deal, of course — and with the Raiders asking for public money to cover $750 million of the estimated $2 billion price tag, that is no sure thing. Still, Oakland fans might want to begin reheating those goodbyes.

The rest of the renderings, including different potential sites all near the famous strip, are below:
