Paul McCartney Proves He Is ‘With Her’ By Performing At A Hillary Clinton Fundraiser

Though candidate for president Donald Trump has previously asserted that celebrities within Hillary Clinton‘s camp “aren’t very hot anymore,” a quick fact check on the Republican nominee’s declarations show this couldn’t be more untrue. Gaining support from modern A-listers has proven to be a prominent goal of the nominees within either party this election, and Hillary, in particular, has racked up quite an impressive list. From Katy Perry to Lady Gaga to Mr. and Mrs. West, the Democratic Party has been a hotbed of celebrity endorsements. This past Tuesday night, Clinton reaffirmed the reality star turned politician’s sentiment was totally erroneous by having living legend Paul McCartney perform at a fundraiser for her.

Taking place in the Hamptons in Long Island, New York, the Beatles icon was joined by Bon Jovi and Jimmy Buffet in an outdoor concert in support of Clinton. The 74-year-old rock star dominated the stage, performing just a few hits within his massive rolodex of renowned tunes. Opening with “Jet,” McCartney also delighted the audience by singing “Can’t Buy Me Love” and “Lady Madonna.” He, of course, additionally led Bon Jovi and Buffet along with a cheering crowd in a rendition of “Hey Jude” to close the show.

After the performance that amounted to about 75 minutes of sweet classic rock sounds, McCartney jokingly told those in attendance, including one Hillary Rodham Clinton, that “This is the first time [he’s] paid to hear [him]self sing.”

While this concert cemented the knighted Beatle’s support of Clinton, this isn’t the first time he’s publicly demonstrated his loyalty to her. Earlier this summer, upon meeting the Democratic nominee before a show in Cleveland, the two powerhouses met and were said to have chatted briefly about the Olympics, the presidential race and their families. Following the encounter, McCartney tweeted a photo of the dynamic duo to his 2.83 million Twitter followers with the caption that’s a cheeky twist on Clinton’s campaign slogan “She’s with me.”
