Timaal Bradford – “Bounce”
Strong soul vibes with a timely “Bounce”? Yes, please. Timaal Bradford’s latest single is a perfect blend of numerous popular rap sounds from the last ten years, giving any age group a record they’ll have no problem finding a groove to, especially with Bradford’s personal approach and razor sharp delivery. If Timaal can keep up the well-rounded output, he might have a legit angle.
Jay Prince feat. Joyce Wrice – “Promises”
There are some clear comparisons in Jay Prince’s delivery, but the cool, calm and collect vibes of “Promises” are hard to ignore. Built on a vacationing guitar riff, warming pads and a refreshing vocal hook from Joyce Wrice, the London rapper’s latest single offers a welcoming setting that listeners can easily snuggle up and get comfy with. No need to overthink this one, just turn it on and melt away.

Juan RIOS – “Marula”
There’s a whole sub-genre of lucid instrumentals on Soundcloud, that all feel specifically made for moments when you’re out floating peacefully on the water, without a care in the world. Juan RIOS’ “Maruala” definitely falls into that category, offering audible relaxation via two minutes of sampled tropical bliss, waiting to be looped for hours on end. Anyone know where can I rent a pontoon boat on the Detroit River? No, seriously.

Simon Field and MAYE – “Fade”
Guilty pleasure alert. Simon Field and MAYE’s “Fade” is a straight uptempo, exotic jungle jam. Infused with screwed up vocals and housey bass grooves, this one is easy to succumb to at any moment, no matter what song you rolled up listening to.

Gold Clubb – “Sweat It”
Mix some subtle funk and indie rock into a pot, sprinkle in some Dire Straits-style verses with a nearly doo wop hook and you’ll get Gold Clubb’s “Sweat It.” The eclectic single is juicy in every regard, offering upbeat vibes that suck listeners in whether they’re trying to bust a move or not. Gold Clubb’s The 2-Stroke Mixtape drops September 16.

Tay Sean – “FML”
Tay Sean’s “FML” feels like an appropriate book end to a long weekend night. But, which end? Well, both really. Once the slow-motion R&B burner slithers into your system, you’ll eventually hear the hazy maze turn into an upbeat blast of energy. The mood is reminiscent of a hangover finally subsiding after a crazy night of intoxication, or on the flip side, a slow-motion evening finally kicking into high gear. Either mood is ideal, so Tay’s clearly doing something right. His project Leaving drops September 20.
KING – “Native Land” Video
Director Filip Anthonissen’s video for KING’s “Native Land” single feels like the designers who made Mario 64 used paper dolls to reinvent the kaleidoscope. The clip is weird, trippy, adventurous and beautiful, just like the song it’s bringing to life. Zone out in style, then check out the female trio’s We Are KING album here.

REKS – “Gone Baby Gone” (Prod. by Large Professor)
REKS has been consistently dropping quality from his recently-released The Greatest X album for weeks now, but “Gone Baby Gone” might be my favorite track so far. Thanks to sample-based production from the legendary Large Professor that’s fit for a super-hero, the Mass rapper flexes his pen and proceeds to break down his competition with an arsenal of swift jabs and intrasyllabic insults that come together extra proper.
