Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon famously left Twitter following the film’s release, causing fans, detractors, and even Patton Oswalt to speculate as to why. Nearly a year and a half later, however, none of that really matters now that Whedon has returned to the social media platform with his own Super PAC and a celebrity-filled voter registration campaign. Called “Save the Day,” Whedon’s last-minute push to convince people to register to vote begins with the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Julianne Moore, and the promise of a naked Mark Ruffalo. Yes, a naked Mark Ruffalo.
“Tell the world that you care about what happens to it,” Whedon’s cadre of film and television stars exclaims. “And if you do vote, and help protect this country from fear and ignorance, Mark [Ruffalo] will do a nude scene in his next movie.” Or as a particularly serious RDJ puts it, “Mark’s gonna have his dick out!”
Hey! Did I miss anything? Lol jk the world is on fire 😂 here's a thing I made https://t.co/g1SE45Rkrv

Ruffalo’s promised nude scene is just one of many gags the video uses to promote Save the Day. (Besides, it’s not like Ruffalo has never done a nude scene in one of his past films. He’s performed plenty of times without pants.) The A-list cast also spends much of the first minute making fun of themselves and the typical celebrity PSA format, as signified by Moore’s line, “Just a sh*t-ton of famous people.”
Joking aside, Whedon drove home the importance of voting in an interview with BuzzFeed:
“It’s about targeting people who either aren’t going to vote or have been anesthetized out of voting — fighting the sort of apathy and cynicism that says, ‘It doesn’t matter if I vote,'” Whedon told BuzzFeed News. Voting, he said, “matters more than any single thing you’re going to do in the next two years. It’s the exact definition of democracy. It is a heroic and necessary act.”
Neither Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton‘s names are ever mentioned in the video explicitly, though a few obvious references to the former aren’t too kind. Like when Leslie Odom Jr. cautions against giving “nuclear weapons to a man whose signature move is firing things,” or when Don Cheadle refers to “a racist, abusive coward who could permanently damage the fabric of our society.” So it wouldn’t be that much of a stretch to assume Whedon and his Super PAC are pro-Hillary.
