The police were on the lookout for former four-weight boxing champ Adrien Broner after his friends notified them of extremely troubling posts on social media earlier on Wednesday threatening to kill himself at 3 p.m. TMZ confirmed through friends that Broner is now safe and “in a better place.”

The situation started at approximately 11 a.m. when Broner posted “Change starts today!!!” on his Instagram, followed by “3PM I’m doing it I’m sorry to my family and friends but I don’t want to be here no more this s**t too much.” He then posted a picture of a handgun sitting in the center console of his vehicle.

Broner was the WBO junior lightweight champ, WBC lightweight champ, WBA welterweight champ, and most recently the WBA super lightweight champ. Broner was stripped of that title leading up to his fight in April of this year due to missing weight. He’s also seen troubles recently outside of the ring, serving a 30 day jail sentence in July for contempt of court after showing up late to a court hearing for assault and robbery charges at a bowling alley.

It’s currently unclear what set Broner off in this latest incident. Other recent social media posts from the past few days have him promoting events at nightclubs and partying with friends. More updates as this story develops.
