There are two bits of news on the TGIF front today, because this is 2013 and apparently no one in Hollywood will rest until every show made between 1986 and 1997 has been rebooted or re-imagined or reunited on some talk show. Anywho, away we go.
First of all, Disney Channel confirmed that former Sister, Sister star Jackée Harry will appear in the pilot of Girl Meets World (the updated version of Boy Meets World that focuses on Cory and Topanga’s daughter), although they would not reveal any details about her role. This news is important for three reasons: 1) Jackée Harry is a great American, and should be on more TV shows; 2) I love that Disney wouldn’t reveal any details about her role, like it’s a matter of goddamn national security or something; and 3) Still no word on Minkus, which is total horsesh-t.
And second, Patrick Duffy (who is currently starring on TNT’s reboot of Dallas) told The Hollywood Reporter that he’s open to a Step By Step reunion, saying:
“I would love to work with Suzanne [Somers] again,” Duffy tells The Hollywood Reporter, referring to his Step By Step on-screen wife. “The Step By Step cast was so wonderful to be with. They were my family and I think a little two-hour special about where these people are – not a documentary, but actually doing a show – seeing where they all come to over the years. It would be so fun to play that goofy Frank Lambert character again, aging another 25 years.”
Fair enough. Allow me to update my “People Who Want A Two-Hour Step By Step Reunion” list:
