This is one of those rare instances on the world wide web where people the internet is obsessed with did something genuinely creative and hilarious at an awards show and it has inexplicably flow flown under the radar for days. The confluence of circumstances that made this instance a possible are “Creative Arts Emmy Awards” vs. standard “Primetime Emmy Awards” and airing on Saturday night on FXX.
Even with all that in mind, I’m still kind of amazed its taken days for this to hit my radar. Thankfully Joel McHale is attempting to rectify that and tweeted out video this morning.
You’re about to be treated to “Dan Harmon gets fired often” jokes, an impressive who’s who of recognizable faces cackling in the audience, and McHale-Harmon going full Gervais burn city on the best and brightest the Creative Arts Emmys has to offer. Note: That ends around the 4:00 mark when they begin to give out awards. From there it’s a schizophrenic whirlwind of random coverage. Stick around if you’re into that sort of thing.
