Warriors coach Steve Kerr has missed most of the postseason due to ongoing complications from previous spinal surgeries. He’s made it to several of Golden State’s home games during this period, but was primarily relegated to watching the action from the team locker-room as interim coach Mike Brown assumed head coaching duties.
But now Kerr will make his long-awaited return to the sidelines for Game 2, as he announced in a pre-game interview with David Aldridge of NBA TV.
After missing most of the #NBAPlayoffs, @warriors' Steve Kerr will resume his HC duties tonight in Game 2.

Not only will Kerr be back for Game 2, the Warriors coach said his intention is to coach for the remainder of the Finals if his health permits. Kerr appeared to be in good spirits when asked how he was able to make his return, saying that he’s been feeling stronger and healthier lately, then joking that Mike Brown – who has led the squad to a 13-0 record this postseason – just wasn’t getting the job done.
Kerr also spoke with the rest of the media before the game and told them that he hadn’t even made the players aware of it before announcing it to the media, saying that they were always on their phones anyways and would figure it out.
Kerr says he hasn't told team yet, but: "They probably already know, because they're all on their phones all the time."

After blowing out the Cavs in Game 1, getting Kerr back should give the Warriors even more confidence as they try to take a commanding 2-0 series lead before heading back to Cleveland for Games 3 and 4. The Cavs will try to even the series when Game 2 tips off at 8 p.m. ET on ABC on Sunday night.
