John Cena‘s been trying desperately to find his WrestleMania match, and last night he finally lived up to everyone’s expectations and challenged the Undertaker. Today, however, Big Match John was challenged to what might be an even bigger match, although it’s unlikely to make it onto the WrestleMania card.

Yes, that’s Steve Burns, the original host of Nickelodeon’s Blue’s Clues. Burns hosted the children’s show from its 1996 debut until 2002, when he left the show to pursue other creative endeavors. In the years since, he’s released a couple of indie rock albums, done some acting, and hung out with the Flaming Lips. In 2016, Burns and the Lips’ Steven Drozd released a children’s album called Foreverywhere. And now he’s challenging John Cena for a match to decide the new host of Blue’s Clues. (Joe, Steve’s “brother” and replacement host on Blue’s Clues, was basically an alternate universe Shane McMahon. So the less said about that, the better.)
For further context, if you haven’t heard, Cena apparently auditioned to host the soon-to-be-rebooted Blue’s Clues. At least, AdWeek Editor Jason Lynch tweeted a photo that made everyone think that’s what was going on (especially since Lynch said so), but if you think about it, it’s much more likely to be a goof of some kind. Not that John Cena, a friend of Nickelodeon, wouldn’t be a possible contender for the role, just that there’s no way he’s really auditioning on a stage, in costume, with a giant backdrop and a guy from AdWeek in attendance.

Still, Burns makes a good point that there’s an appeal to having a Blue’s Clues host who just looks like a normal guy, although Cena’s charisma and way with children would probably make him a pretty great host, even in spite of his superheroic physical proportions. And for that matter, a John Cena/Steve Burns fight would be a lot of fun to watch, especially if it’s a hardcore match and somebody gets beaned with that weird red armchair.
