What the future holds for Dean Ambrose has been debated by wrestling fans since he reportedly gave notice to WWE in late January 2019. After months filled with multiple post-Raw appearances, possibly going off script, and no match at WrestleMania, Ambrose said his final goodbyes to the WWE Universe and his Shield brotherhood with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins on April 21 at the WWE Network Exclusive (aka filmed house show) The Shield‘s Final Chapter.
For the next nine days, there was no word from Ambrose. If you want to get technical, we still haven’t received word from “Ambrose.” However, a video was released at about midnight Eastern on May 1 through the Twitter account Ambrose had to get in 2012 as a WWE employee and then never used. The dramatic teaser, about a minute and a half long, informs the wrestling world of the return of the character Ambrose used to be and now apparently will be again, Jon Moxley.

The dramatic teaser includes shots of Moxley escaping from prison and training. It also notably features barbed wire in a way that seems to signal a return to the deathmatch scene.
Who’s going to hire Moxley for this kind of violence in 2019? Assuming he isn’t going Mighty Mouse and is planning to stay in the U.S., there are a few options. On the independent scene, options include returning to CZW, his old stomping grounds, and going to GCW, already the first post-WWE destination of KENTA. In the wrestling TV game, both MLW and Impact Wrestling have also been known to get more extreme with match stipulations.
Of course, whether Moxley could possibly be AEW-bound, especially since the new promotion has already signed Joey Janela and Jimmy Havoc, will certainly be hotly debated as well.
What do you think about this video? Where do you think Jon Moxley will end up wrestling? We all agree he needs to wrestle Nick Gage, like, this year, right? Sound off in the comments!
