Daniel Bryan Named The Top Luchadors He’d Like To See In WWE

Earlier this week, Super Luchas released the first part of their interview with Daniel Bryan in which the WWE star spoke at length about the Amazon rainforest. Today the website has released a second part of the interview in which Bryan talks about his match with Buddy Murphy, family life with Brie Bella, and which luchadors he’d like to see in WWE.

When asked which three Mexican or Latin American wrestlers he would choose to go to WWE, Bryan starts by praising his some of his all-time favorites who “are now too old to go to WWE,” Negro Casas and Blue Panther. He also mentions Andrade and Gran Metalik as standout Latin American wrestlers in WWE right now. The three luchadors currently in their primes that Bryan says he would choose to join WWE were Rush, Bandido, and Dragon Lee.

These are far from deep-cut, hipster picks from Bryan, but names a lot of fans of not just lucha libre but American indie wrestling and Japanese wrestling already know. Bandido is currently signed with Ring of Honor, has wrestled for New Japan Pro Wrestling this year, and previously worked on the American indies (including in PWG and the main event of pre-AEW show All In) as well as in Dragon Gate. Dragon Lee had a run as IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion earlier this year and is an established, but still rising star in CMLL. The only one of Bryan’s picks to have expressed interest in WWE is Rush, who recently teased reuniting with fellow Ingobernables OG Andrade in WWE.

Given that Lucha House Party seems like they want out of WWE and considering the way they’ve been presented, it’s easy to see why luchadors with prospects elsewhere might not be interested in the sports entertainment giant, even with the endorsement of someone like Daniel Bryan. But maybe Lee, Bandido, and Rush could see more of an Andrade-type future for themselves in the company and they’ll all end up signing and having NXT Championship runs and good TV matches in the future.
