For all the poor boyfriends who were dragged to the first installment of the stripper drama and forced to sit through a couple of hours worth of shirtless hunks and screaming fangirls, this news regarding the Magic Mike sequel should make it easier to get ready for round two. Jada Pinkett Smith has confirmed her role in the new film starring Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello. The actress stopped by The Queen Latifah Show Monday morning to break the big news about the role specifically created for her by Tatum (who co-wrote the film) and director Gregory Jacobs:
Yes, you know, Channing and Gregory and Warner Bros. really took a chance. There was a character written for a male that they wanted to turn into a female.I can’t really reveal it yet, but I’m excited about it.
Magic Mike XXL started shooting a few weeks ago and while Smith won’t be showing off any pole dancing skills in the film, she doesn’t mind watching the guys get down on stage:
I’m used to being around beefcake like that because you know who I live with! I’m used to that kind of beefcake-ness in my environment. I can handle it!
