Jason Smith is not known as an elite rim protector. New York’s somewhat stiff power forward was even used as an insulting comparison when Dan Le Batard was making fun of LeBron and the Cavs on Twitter last week. But the Amar’e Stoudemire replacement at the four certainly rose to the defense challenge when Josh Smith tried to thump it on him last night…
J Smoove thought he was home free after blowing by ‘Melo along the baseline. He rose up with his left hand expecting to thump a dunk down on the other Smith when Jason roundly rejects him:
Crazy. Despite the block, Josh Smith’s 2-for-17 shooting night (retch), and Jason’s own efficient 7-for-11 from the field for 17 points, the Knicks still lost at home 98-95 after ‘Melo went 5-for-21 and Greg Monroe dominated the block with 23 points and 18 boards.
