Festus Ezeli wanted a fight in his first time playing rotation minutes since December. After the Toronto Raptors refused to give his team anything resembling one during the Golden State Warriors’ 113-89 win, the big man took matters into his own hands.
Tyler Hansbrough’s playing nature lends itself to instigation. Having said that, we’re not exactly sure what Ezeli took such exception to here. Perhaps he really was just fed up with the ‘Dubs easy dominance of the Raptors? Golden State did lead to 98-57 at the time of this scuffle, after all.
Though both players were ejected, don’t be surprised if Ezeli is the only one disciplined by the league going forward. A jab to the neck of an opponent might as well be a punch, and his was especially egregious because it came mostly unprompted.
The Warriors’ next game is on Sunday against the Boston Celtics.
