Hey, do you guys like COOKING and KARDASHIAN-STYLE VIDEO GAME APPS and DISGRACED CELEBRITY CHEFS? Well hoo boy, do I ever have some good news for you. Paula Deen, she of the butter-laden recipes and public racism scandals, has launched her first mobile game, Paula Deen’s Recipe Quest. From the press release:
Featuring 40 levels of puzzles, players will mix and match ingredients to Paula’s popular Southern dishes and collect downloadable recipe cards as they complete each level. Players can connect with friends and compete to have their scores highlighted on Paula’s leaderboard. Recipes and puzzles will be added to the app each week, providing players with new challenges and more scrumptious fun.
Paula Deen’s Recipe Quest takes gamers through Paula’s illustrious culinary career. Players will start as an amateur chef in a home kitchen while learning the basics of cooking. As they progress to higher levels, players will make their way up to cooking at Paula’s restaurant, The Lady & Sons, and to eventually owning their own virtual restaurant.
But wait. What does Paula Deen know about gaming?
“I am a gamer at heart and never leave my home without my ipad. Paula Deen’s Recipe Quest is an incredible and one-of-a-kind game that will allow y’all to cook up a storm with me while solving exciting puzzles. Plus, it’s free!” said Paula Deen.
Yes, “free,” in that it costs nothing to download, but charges you $0.99 or $4.99 for bundles of coins, which you presumably need — or at least will really, really, really want, as South Park explained — to advance through Paula’s “illustrious culinary career.” But at least it has a pretty weird trailer. That’s, uh, something!
