Yesterday, The Washington Post reported that hackers linked to the Russian government had breached Democratic National Committee servers to dig up dirt on assumed GOP nominee Donald Trump. Now, it looks like the opposition research report they stole may have made its way online.
The 200+ page report on Trump was sent to Gawker by a tipster calling himself Guccifer 2.0. The name is a reference to a since-imprisoned hacker who breached accounts belonging to members of the Bush family and other prominent officials. The report is a playbook for discrediting Donald Trump’s presidential run and includes a number of ruthless body slams that someone with a background like Trump’s should appreciate.
Below we’ve compiled the some of the best zingers from the alleged DNC report, starting with the section that claims Trump has “no core” because he’s only faithful to himself (not to his wives or the Republican Party). The compilation then reveals a few digs on his personal record:
“Trump is not the master businessman he claims to be. Donald Trump’s businesses have gone bankrupt four times and he only barely was able to avoid personal bankruptcy himself. Finally, and most ironically, Donald Trump and would actually have become more wealthy by simply putting his inheritance in a boring mutual fund than he became by ‘making deals.’
“His description of the ‘small’ $1 million loan that his father gave him to launch his career is proof enough that his worldview is not grounded in reality.”
The alleged DNC report then goes in on Trump’s lack of discernible positions on the issues, which is both true and brutal:
“Trump’s policies – if you can call them that … are marked by the same extreme and irresponsible thinking that shape his campaign speeches. There is no question that Donald Trump’s rhetoric is dangerous – but his actual agenda could be a catastrophe.”
There’s also a section that refers to the presumptive Republican nominee as “Misogynist In Chief.”
“Among other things, he’s called women pigs, slobs and dogs. He has frequently made disparaging comments about women’s weight. He’s complained about being asked legitimate questions during a debate by speculating about a news anchor’s menstrual cycle, and once said of the high rate of sexual assaults in the military: ‘What did these geniuses expect when they put men and women together?'”
The vast majority of the case against Trump is made in his own words, and extensive sections are dedicated to Trump’s tendency to fall on both sides of an issue, whether it’s climate change, gun control or Obamacare. In addition to Trump’s position on everything from Black Lives Matter to the Keystone XL Pipeline.
Finally, the files contain a reminder of the time that Trump’s ex-wife Ivana claimed that he raped her, and The Trump Organization responded by saying “you can’t rape your spouse.” Again, this isn’t anything we haven’t heard, but it is an exhaustive reminder of all the awful things Trump has said in public (which was also was put together by consultant Warren Flood at the end of last year). Guccifer 2.0 claims the report is just a taste of “thousands of documents” that were stolen from the DNC. In a blog post, he also shared donor records and Hillary Clinton talking points, claiming the rest would be released via WikiLeaks in the near future.
