At a campaign rally in South Carolina on Monday, Donald Trump threatened to run for president on a third party platform, saying that the Republican National Committee does a “terrible job.”
Trump is apparently sore over the audience booing Trump at the Republican debate on Saturday in the same state, the New York Daily News reports. The RNC apparently packed the room in support of the Republican establishment that’s scared of Trump winning the nomination.
“I know many of those people. Lobbyists and special interests. Take a look! That’s a wealthy room,” said Trump, further establishing himself as an anti-establishment candidate.
Trump previously signed a pledge to the RNC, promising that he wouldn’t run as a third party candidate back in September. The Daily News reported that Trump would cooperate if the RNC treated him “fairly.”
In the ABC News video above, Trump explains his new tune: “I signed a pledge, but it’s a double-edged pledge. And as far as I’m concerned, they’re in default of their pledge.”
A lot of things happened during Saturday’s debate, many involving Trump. He got busy during last Saturday’s debate calling Ted Cruz “the biggest liar,” and forcing Jeb Bush to defend the political liability that is his family. Maybe he’s serious about running as an independent, maybe he’s still blowing off steam.
Also, what does this mean?
If he wins South Carolina, Trump says, "we're going to run the table." #scprimary
