Police have released the 911 call made by Austin Harrouff’s mother Mina Harrouff a couple of hours after the 19-year-old disappeared from the restaurant where he had been having dinner with his father, shortly before wandering to the home of 59-year-old John Stevens and 53-year-old Michelle Mishcon where he is accused of brutally murdering the beloved couple in cold blood. Of course, by the time the call had been placed, just before midnight, the tragic series of events had already taken place unbeknownst to his mother, who did not find out until police came to her door around 2:30 a.m.
When the dispatcher initially takes the call, Mina Harrouff sounds almost embarrassed, telling the woman, “Um yes, I need to — I don’t know how to do this — my son, he’s kind of taken off, and I’m concerned about his own safety. He’s acting a little strange.” She goes on to tell the dispatcher that her son is acting delusional, and that he “feels immortal, like a superhero,” which we previously learned.
Harrouff later goes on to describe her son and what he was carrying on him at the time — ominous foreshadowing knowing what we all know now.
He has no ID on him, no phone… And I think the only thing he has on him is a pocket knife switchblade.
He’s white, he has brownish, brown hair, light brown hair. Um, he’s wearing white shorts, and he had a blue polo on, if he’s wearing it. And a red hat, Make America Great Again.
It’s unknown if Austin was still wearing his “Make America Great Again” hat when police discovered him perched over the body of John Stevens.
