After lifting parts of Michelle Obama’s speech for her RNC speech, then possibly making up details about her university degree on her personal website, Melania Trump has been caught in another possible lie. She may have broken immigration laws when she first traveled to the United States. Now libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson is trolling Donald Trump and his hardline stances on illegal immigration,” by offering Melania a pathway to citizenship.
Johnson’s statement has been circulating on Twitter. Here it is in full:

Trump must know that he’s in trouble, if it is in fact true that his supporters are calling for his wife to be stripped of her citizenship and deported. Even so, Johnson’s statement shows how punishing the Donald’s immigration policy is, since he would have to include Melania among the lawbreakers, lest he be labeled a hypocrite.
This is also a prime opportunity for Johnson to get his own immigration platform out to people who otherwise wouldn’t pay attention. Apparently, his policy would allow people who immigrated illegally a way to become citizens if they learned English, pay back taxes and a fine. Johnson then touts his plan as “pro-growth,” because he would allow Slovenian models to contribute to American society.
Obvious jokes about Melania’s profession aside, this is a pretty good and classy way to make fun of Donald Trump, and point out what’s wrong with his immigration policy. Still, I bet Hillary Clinton could come up with something to top this.
