Hillary Clinton was back at the podium on Friday morning at a Black Women’s Agenda’s workshop in Washington, D.C. She attempted to bring some levity to her pneumonia diagnosis that has seen plenty of obsession from the media and various Internet circles.
Clinton’s own campaign admitted they dropped the ball in the immediate situation, which only fueled the existing speculation that still continues over Clinton’s health. Now, she diffuses the situation with some humor: “As the world knows, I was a little under the weather recently.” Then came the punchline: “The good news is, my pneumonia finally got some Republicans interested in women’s health.” Clinton is, of course, referring to the Alt-Right movement that loves to spin conspiracy theories about her, and this moment of humor pleased the audience, who reacted with cheers.
The Democratic presidential nominee also devoted a few words to slamming Donald Trump and the birther movement. The Republican nominee is tipped to soon address his current stance on President Obama’s birth certificate (and the fact that he was born in the U.S.). We’ll see what happens.
