Indian anchor Supreet Kaur of IBC24 News had her worst nightmare come true as she reported on a deadly accident that took place on Saturday morning, and learned that her own husband had been involved. As details came in on the story, in which three people were killed and another two injured when an SUV and truck collided in Pithora, Kaur came to the dawning realization that her husband, who was driving a similar vehicle in the area, may have been one of the victims.
Yet somehow, the nine-year veteran of the news network managed to keep her composure as she continued to report on the story, even as blurred images of the wreckage began to pour in on the screen in front of her.
“She was doing her job, and she kept on doing it with composure and without showing her emotions on air,” IBC24 editor in chief Ravi Kant Mittal said.
Kaur broke down when her husband’s death was confirmed to her after the show when she went from the set to the newsroom. Kaur and Harshad Kawade had been married for about 18 months, Mittal said.
Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, India, Dr. Raman Singh later tweeted to commemorate Kaur’s professionalism and bravery in dealing with the horrific news that hit way, way too close to home. May the poor woman eventually be able to find some peace.
