Edgar Welch, the suspect who opened fire in a Washington D.C. pizzeria whiile “investigating” a viral fake news story, is being charged by federal prosecutors. He could face up to 10 years in prison, as reported by NPR.
Welch stopped by Comet Ping Pong on December 4th after absorbing a fake conspiracy that claimed Hillary Clinton was running a child-sex ring out of the D.C.-based pizza shop. Federal prosecutors are now charging Welch with interstate transportation of a firearm (an AR-15 rifle) with intent to commit an offense.
Welch had reportedly been planning to visit Comet for several days, and new federal court documents show Welch had called friends as early as December 1st to discuss the conspiracy. In one of the most stunning revelations, Welch asked a friend if he would help: “Raiding a pedo ring, possibly sacrificing [sic] the lives of a few for the lives of many … The world is too afraid to act and I’m too stubborn not to.”
The insanity of Pizzagate only grew after Michael Flynn’s son continued fueling it. Flynn Jr. was relieved of his duties among the Trump transition team, but there are still fake news stories out there for him to enjoy. Such stories are being condemned many people, including Clinton, who (sadly) has a plenty of experience with them.
