Stephen Colbert has arrived in Cleveland, Ohio, for the Republican National Convention ahead of many of the delegates, and he’s already causing a ruckus. Dressed up as Hunger Games host Caesar Flickerman, Colbert managed to get up on stage to start an impromptu speech before being forced off by security thirty seconds later.
“[Trump] has formed an alliance with Indiana Governor Mike Pence,” he said before pretending to fall into a deep slumber. “Sorry, I blacked out there for a moment.”
“It is my honor to hereby launch and begin the 2016 Republican National Hungry for Power Games!” he continued before security showed up to lead him off the stage. He managed to get in one more quip before being pulled down. “Look, I know I’m not supposed to be up here — but to be honest, neither is Donald Trump!”
Colbert was down on the floor with permission of the RNC filming bits for the show, but it’s unclear whether he was allowed to get up on stage before his antics got him quickly kicked back off. In addition to his re-occurring Caesar Flickerman ‘Hunger For Power Games’ persona, he was also spotted wearing a sparkly stars and stripes outfit… and a mischievous grin.
Colbert has promised even more silliness for both the Republican and Democratic conventions, with Jon Stewart showing up for several of the live episodes starting tonight.
