Michael Smith, known to most people as the lovable goofball and cat aficionado Bubbles from the popular Netflix comedy series, Trailer Park Boys, was arrested early Friday morning in Hollywood. Sources at the Roosevelt Hotel claim that they saw the actor with a female friend by the bathrooms at the pool getting into an argument. According to hotel guests, Smith and the unnamed woman were in a shouting match over alleged text messages that Smith had sent. Other guests heard the woman scream, “you’re choking me” and ran to the woman’s aid and found Smith pinning her up against the wall. When confronted, Smith bolted from the scene and was eventually arrested and booked for misdemeanor battery and was released a few hours later. Reps for the actor have yet to comment about the incident.
(UPDATE: The woman, Georgia Ling said in a statement Saturday that she and Michael did “indeed have a heavy argument, but it saddens me the way things are being reported and the way it was handled by police.” Both Smith and Michael have denied the battery.)
The mockumentary series, Trailer Park Boys about a Nova Scotia trailer park originally aired on Canada’s Showcase channel from 2001 to 2007. The long-running comedy series even launched the career of then unknown actress, Ellen Page. In 2014, Netflix revived the series. Season 10 was recently added to the streaming service on March, 28 and the show was renewed for an 11th season this past week.
